Throwback to one of my favorite temple visits in Egypt two years ago together with @roz_anthro who now has Instagram! ♥️

I was not present during this trip. It was six months after my dad died. And three weeks after completing our master degree in Visual Anthropology. I was longing for rest, yet I didn’t quite know how to give in to it. My body was in survival mode and only now - 2,5 years later - I’m slowly learning how to get out of it.

Traveling trough the hectics of Egypt in this state was in hindsight maybe not the wisest thing I’ve done. However, Rozan dragged me through and we did go on an epic adventure backpacking all across Egypt. 🙏🏼

Thanks babe! ♥️🇪🇬

De warmte van de zon
Wandelend op stenen die ontelbaar veel voeten hebben gedragen

Niet wetende dat eb is om te rusten

Udawalawe National Park. 🇱🇰 At dawn we ente Udawalawe National Park. 🇱🇰

At dawn we entered the national park, curious for the creatures that would show themselves... Of course we weren’t the only ones. Dozens of jeeps drove the same sandpaths looking for appearing elephants. 🗺️

I was hesitant.
what were we getting ourselves into?

But when we headed deeper into the national park, it was just us, the sound of the engine - and when it stopped - the sound of birds and silence.

Or a peacock. 🦚
Turns out I’m pretty good at imitating their call.

One elephant didn’t mind us watching him eat. Maybe he even liked the company, who knows?

I was in awe.

This magnificent animal,
roaming freely.
Letting us see him.

🐘

I was beyond excited, even if this was all we got to witness today.

But when I thought things couldn’t get any better: We admired a family of 3 going for a swim. The baby was playing in the water and it was the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.

Animals belong in the wild. That’s the only place you should see them in real life.

🌏
________

Worldwide, elephants are struggling for survival. People intrude on their habitat; their food, water and migration routes disappear. To survive, they venture on what is now claimed as human territory, causing serious conflicts. In the majority of these conflict places, people are struggling too: with poverty, inequality and corruption.

Visit places where elephants and other animals live freely. You should be the one caged in a moving vehicle, not the other way around. Do not support wildlife tourism where animals are chained, riden on or petted.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Visit places that are free of crualtiy, watch from afar and admire what you see. These animals are even more special when you see them in their natural habitat, I garantee you.

April’s memories ❤️‍🔥 🇮🇸 Ik moc April’s memories ❤️‍🔥

🇮🇸 Ik mocht de videoclip van @thisisjenniferann schieten in het prachtige landschap van IJsland 🤯 👉🏽 18 mei is de release party, kom je ook?

🌱 Daarna riep mijn eigen tuintje me.

Every tea leave, carefully selected and handpicked Every tea leave, carefully selected and handpicked. In a place where the best Ceylon tea has been strived for since 1971: @halpe.teatour. We got to experience it ourselves... what the art of tea involves. 🌱

Every step along the way, dictates the taste of what you drink. The environment the plant grows in. The way it is picked. Gently, by women’s hands. It’s intensive labour in the burning sun. Maybe you’ll taste the stories of the hands that cared the seeds into the liquid you’ll eventually drink. The way the leaves are dried. And stored. And processed. By humans then machines. En mass to end up in a single cup, hundreds of kilometers away from the place it so delicitly grew. ☕️

So baby, don’t ever offer me
tea bags again,
especially after tasting
this gold.
——

Enjoy the art of tea.
